Every year, the week the boys finish school for the Summer, we take a weekend trip with them! We started doing this when we lived in Arizona and my oldest finished first grade, and we have kept it up since! We all look forward to it, and its such a fun way to kick of summer vacation! Last Summer, we spent a weekend glamping in Croatia!
Im a little late in writing this one, ha, but last year after second grade ended, we headed off to Croatia for four days to go GLAMPING! Growing up I went real-cook over the fire, pee in the woods, bathe in the lake-camping and loved it! Admittedly I haven’t done that since I was about 12 and glamping was something that sounded much more enjoyable anyways!
From where we live in Italy, it was only a 3 1/2 hour drive to Poreč, Croatia so it was an easy drive and we all had so much fun! We stayed at the Lanterna Premium Camping Resort in Poreč and it was amazing! The resort was full of restaurants, pools, water slides, beaches, shops, entertainment..it had everything we needed and we ended up only leaving once to go to dinner!
On the resort grounds, our favorite dinner was at Restaurant Adria. The view over the water was beautiful, there was a playground right there that the kids were able to play at while we waited for our food, and the food itself was wonderful.
The one night we left for dinner, we went to the Pirate Pizza Grill. We tried Octopus for the first time, which we all were a little indifferent about hahah (For me, it was the texture..eeks) Other than that, the food was delicious and we all loved it!
The tent, if you can even call it that, was decked out with everything we needed, and fit the five of us so comfortably. We had a double bed and two sets of bunk beds, which was perfect. There were open closets for your clothes and a well stocked kitchen. The front porch had Adirondack chairs and a hammock, where we spent all our time in the mornings. We had a beach directly across the street from our site, and we spent lots of time there in the evenings with a glass of wine, watching the sun set, while the kids swam and learned to skip rocks. It was such a wonderful weekend with my guys!
