Happy Hour!

We haven’t had a happy hour in quite awhile! Like, since April! Whaaaa. So lets talk…

We’re doing our master bedroom from scratch, I’ve mentioned this, but the only thing in there currently is a mattress on the floor, and boxes of clothes. It’s a mess. We’re doing it piece by piece, and we’ll get there. The headboard came in yesterday, and I’m so smitten! We bought an antique french provincial dresser that we’re stripping down and totally redoing it, if it turns out like my vision, it’ll be so gorgeous! I’m going for a romantic, kind of vintage-y, slash modern room, it sounds weird, I have lots of ideas, so hopefully they come together well! My hardest part right now is the bedding, everything that I fall in love with is just far to feminine for my poor husband, so it’s been challenging, but we’ll get there! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Anyone interested in before & after photos? I mean I know this is a food blog, but it’s also about my life ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve been planner hunting everywhere. I’m a pen and paper kind of gal for pretty much everything, but I’m struggling with my day to day to-do’s. I love the idea of a day planner. I know the Emily Ley one is highly recommended, and that’s for sale soon, as well as the Whitney English day designer, but ohmygod, isn’t that a lot for a planner? I mean, I know it’s kind of got everything, but the prices are kind of blowing my mind! Does anyone have one that think it’s worth it? OR can you recommend a little more cost efficient organizer with just as much organization? If not, I feel like I might have to bite the bullet and just do it..

I started PIYO this week! I’m loving it so far..I have a hard time sticking with these types of workout regimens because they’re so long and kind of repetitive. This one is eight weeks, and I’m really enjoying it so far, so I’m hoping that I can stick it out. Based on my track record with T-25 though, I’m not so sure. Following an exact schedule for those things can be really hard with two littles running around, I tend to just try to fit in what I can, when I can!

I’m having an Apple Party! Right here on the blog, so you’re all invited! It’s going to start mid-September, and it’s going to be ALL THINGS APPLES for almost two weeks! It will be absolutely heavenly and so fun! I know I’m trying to hang on to Summer, but no matter how tight I hold, I know Fall is coming..the nights are getting chillier, and the days are getting shorter. It’s okay, fall is so fabulous in it’s own way, I love it!

Speaking of Fall, have you all seen this article going around about how the Pumpkin Spice Latte is made? That’s a little disheartening and slightly frightening. I usually always make them at home in the mornings anyways, but still…will you still be ordering them this year?!

Dinners! Do you all meal plan? I usually do. Every once in awhile, I slip up for a few weeks, aka get lazy, and don’t want to sit down and do it, but then I realize how much more money I spend, how many extra trips to the grocery store we make, and how few dinners I can get out of one trip. Meal planning is the best! But I digress, we’ve had some killer dinners lately, I’ll link to them right below here, I highly recommend all of them!

Sausage & Sweet Potato Zucchini Lasagna (only changes I made here were to use whole wheat lasagna noodles, and chop the zucchini up and cook it with the pork. oh & I used cheddar cheese!)
Hot & Sweet Turkey Burger with Whipped Blue Cheese…mouthwatering!
Indian Style Beef Satay with Curried Cashew Sauce..(all I did was switch the beef for chicken! oh & that sauce, mouthwatering, I was ready to drink it!)
Mediterranean Boneless Pork Chops..super light and refreshing, we loved it!
Pineapple Sriracha Glazed Chicken Quarters…again, the sauce!
Quinoa & Burrata Caprese Salad..(I also added some grilled chicken!)
Spicy Peanut Chicken Soba Noodle Salad..the sauce! We’ve made this one over and over again!

All of these yums listed above are tried and true fantastic meals!

As part of our master reno, I bought these awesome old chairs that we’re totally redoing. I’m kind of freaking out, because they’re beautiful and I don’t want to ruin them. The only reupholstering project Ive ever done is this ottoman, and while it’s not bad at all for a first time, these chairs have soo much more detail to them! I’ve been researching like crazy, but right now they’re just sitting next to me until 1) we finish the dresser I mentioned above, and 2) I have to find the most perfect fabric! So DIY’ers, where is your favorite place for fabric?!

Now that Summer is coming to an end, & it’s one of my first ever, away from New England, I can honestly say, that I really miss New England Summers. There is truly nothing like it. I want the beaches back, the coastline in general! And the lobster! ohmygah, from a self proclaimed lobster fanatic, I haven’t gotten to have it once out here! It sucks…back home, in the Summer, lobster was everywhere, and I’d enjoy it at least once a week in some form or another! Not to say Washington is beautiful in it’s own right, but New England is where its at in the Summer! ๐Ÿ˜‰

You know what I noticed yesterday, I haven’t posted one single cocktail recipe all Summer, not one. That’s not say I haven’t drank a ton of them! But I never shared any with you..I don’t even know who I am?
