Winter ONEderland Birthday!

A few weeks ago, my son turned One! I can hardly believe it..this was by far the quickest year of my life. I literally feel like we were just coming home from the hospital with him yesterday, and before I knew it, we were celebrating his first birthday while we were home visiting in Maine. Sadly my husband wasn’t there, but he Skyped in for most of the day so everyone could talk to him and he could ‘be there’..a 6 hour Skype call!

This party was definitely last minute! I hadn’t planned on having one because I didn’t think we’d be there long enough, but we ended up staying in Maine for three weeks! His birthday gave us the opportunity to see everyone and it turned out so perfect…especially for being planned in a two week period! (Which ended up being really one week! phew, it was a busy week!)

I’m so glad it worked out though! It turned out perfect and I was so happy to have the chance to celebrate my little bean! With a birthday so close to Christmas, I worried that it wouldn’t turn into as big of a deal as my older son’s Summer birthday..thank goodness I refuse to let that happen now!

Since half the country is covered in a few layers of snow and we woke up to a Winter Wonderland outside this morning, I figured today was a perfect day to share his Winter ONEderland Birthday Party!

Now you’re about to get overloaded with photos! (And any details about food are listed at the bottom of the post!)

Decorations

Snowflakes and Hanging Snowballs (Came in three’s) are from Party City. I hung the snowballs all over the ceiling!

“1” Silver Balloon from Party City

Big White Bear (already had it)

Blue Christmas Tree Candles (From my mom)

Food

Slow Roasted Tomato Caprese Salad with a Balsamic Glaze…this is exactly how it sounds. Typical caprese salad but slow roasted the tomatos in the oven, tossed it with chunks of mozzarella, fresh basil, and drizzled with a balsamic glaze.

Warm Shredded Brussels and Bacon Salad..this was a hit..and really easy. I can do a recipe post if there’s any interest. We make this a lot.

Shrimp Cocktail..for all the adults!

Cinnamon Whipped Feta and Honey Drizzled Apple Crostinis

Eggnog White Chocolate and Pecan Cookies

Party Punch..not sweet at all, and bottles of champagne on the side for those who wanted a little spike! 😉

Peppermint Oreo Truffles

Snowflake Sugar Cookies..and I just used Melted White Chocolate and silver sprinkles to decorate

White Chocolate dipped Pretzels with Silver Sprinkles (I used the baking melts, they’re the easiest to work with)

Igloo Cake (Here is the tutorial I followed)
