As always, the holiday season is flying by. Which is why I have absolutely no shame in admitting that we decorated for Christmas the weekend following Halloween. It’s definitely the earliest I’ve ever done it, but I was really feeling it this year, and honestly I wanted to extend my favorite season a bit and make it seem a little longer. My kids sure appreciate it!
Don’t worry, I waited to start the endless Christmas movies, music, and eggnog until the minute thanksgiving ended! 😉 I wanted to share some of our Christmas décor with you today! I have to limit myself somewhat, since I have wild boys in my house, so no breakables aloud!
While I fully believe you can still have a beautifully decorated home with young kids, I also believe you need to make it livable, so that you’re not worrying constantly about things breaking, and your kids don’t have to be nervous about playing in their own home. So I tend to decorate with all of that in mind, I don’t ever want to be that mom exclaiming “don’t touch that!” or “be careful!” allllll the time, that’s no fun for anyone!
With all that said, welcome to our little Christmas abode 🙂
Every year I try to pick up a few more things after the season is over, they’re always marked down, so it’s the best time to pick up decorations for the next year. Though, admittedly, sometimes by that point, I’m so over spending money on Christmas that I can’t even get myself to go shopping for it. But I do try!
That skinny little tree up there is for the kids. I like to give them one that they can do whatever they want with, so that I don’t feel so guilty about not making the big tree all colorful and crazy. I’m a neutral kind of girl, even adding red into our décor took some effort for me. I mostly did so because my husband kind of pushed for it. ha! If it was totally up to me, everything would be white and gold with splashes of black and silver everywhere all the time! 😉
