Luscious and Sweet Blueberries and Peaches blended to make a creamy, heavenly, Sherbet!
I read a post the other day from a fellow blogger mentioning VHS tapes and DVR’s…it made me laugh because I had just had a few conversations about the same things with my husband and mom. Now its been on my mind. I feel like my generation catches a lot of ‘flack’ for being the internet/technology/drones to it etc etc, generation. And I get it, because everywhere you look someone is on their phone. I’m incredibly guilty of this. I remember when cellphones were black and white, and strictly for phone calls, or what about before that..Ill never forget my parents first huge car phone, that came in a large case!
My husband has started making a rule at dinner, or whenever we’re out to eat..”take a picture of whatever food or drink you want, but then put it away!” Sometimes its a nuisance, but I get it! Its terrible when you look around a restaurant and see couples or groups of friends sitting there, ALL on their phones. We’re a slave to our screens now.
We were talking about how much worse it is going to be with our kids. At least we were around for cassette tapes, recording songs off the radio with them, and having to roll them back up with the tip of a pencil eraser. We know what a VHS tape and player is, we know what its like to have to hit play, fast forward, or rewind, ON THE PLAYER. By the time my kids are older, they’re not even going to know what a house phone is.. I’m positive that it will be eliminated. They probably won’t know what its like to ONLY be able to record two shows at once on the DVR! 😉 I’m sure it will be unlimited by then. Pen and paper..whats that? Maybe not to that extreme, but I wouldn’t be surprised..
My point is, I feel like I miss out on a lot of whats going on around me sometimes, because I spend to much time looking at a screen. I’m trying harder and harder to only do it while my kids are asleep, and not to be on my phone half the day. I want to be present, without them one day remembering me as staring at a little piece of technology. When my son asks me to do something, instead of saying, ‘in one minute’ (ten minutes later) I want to do things right away! So cheers to Friday and Cheers to being more present in the real world! 😉
Now go and make this Sherbet before Summer is over. Because a) its freakin’ amazing b) pumpkin season isn’t here yet, put it away, and enjoy whats left of Summer. Soon enough you’ll be drowning in pumpkin, then peppermint, and wishing for Summer. Soak it up. And soak it up with this heavenly Blueberry Peach Sherbet. I promise you will love this! Plus, it seriously takes minutes of hands-on time!
