I can’t believe I’m about to have my third baby! While it’s been 2 1/2 years since I’ve had a newborn, and there are soooo many new products coming out all the time, I like to think I’ve still got the basics down! Really all babies need are some diapers, boobs, & a couple warm blankets. š Buuuut we like things that make life easier, especially if you’ve already got a few kids running around! So I’ve rounded up ten of my favorite products that make bringing a new babe home, just a little bit easier. Soon Ill round up my all-time favorite products for you guys! (but most of those aren’t necessary essential!)
1. white onesies…I’ve got loads of these in all sizes, and I swear by them. I know people love the cute, colored, decorative ones, and those are sweet and I love them too of course, but the white ones are my favorite. First of all, bleach, a mommas best friend, secondly, they’re so soft and thin, perfect on their own or under shirts, one pieces, sweaters, anything, any day!
2. swaddleme wrap…these are a lifesaver those first couple months. Babies are so used to being tightly wrapped in the womb with hardly any room to move, so when they’re out in the real world its a bit of shock. They get all this freedom with their arms and legs that they just aren’t used too. My first would not sleep at all when we laid him down if he was only swaddled with a blanket, so my husband went out late and picked up a few of these that first week, and they worked like a charm. They’re warm, tight, and so comforting for them.
3. eat, sleep app…this app does it all! Keeps track of your babies eating, sleeping, diaper changes, as well as what side you nursed on last! It takes the guess work out of everything. I remember with our first we kept track on paper how many wet or dirty diapers he had, how long he’d nurse for, etc., the second time around, app’s are where its at. Simple and easy!
4. video monitor…this will take so much of your anxiety away. With my first, I held him all.the.time. Morning, noon, and night. Not only did I never want to put him down because I was just so overwhelmed with how much love I had for him, I never wanted to be a part from him, but I loved just watching him. Leaving him in a room all alone, even if he was safe was kind of scary, Id walk up to check on him constantly, yes, even risk waking him. With a video monitor you never have to do that and you can keep a constant watch on him. Totally worth every penny!
5. bath thermometer…this one is great! I was always concerned in the beginning about the water being to hot, or to cold. The thermometer takes all the guess work out of it. Mommas happy, and babies happy!
6. sound machine…or any white noise really. It made all the difference with my babies. And if you already have kids in the house, the sound machine is worth it even more. It really helps to drown out all the excess noise, which we will definitely be needing come football sunday this fall. It gets pretty rowdy around here! #gopats!
7. infusion water bottle…it seems so silly, but after having a baby, you drink a tooon of water, especially if you’re planning on nursing. Out of nowhere your mouth will feel like the sahara desert. I could never sit down and start nursing until I had a giant water bottle close by. Trust me, you will chug it. Of course any water bottle will do, but if you’re anything like me, you get bored of plain old water real fast, so I love this one that you can infuse, plus its 32 ounces!
8. baby swing…These swings are heaven sent. My kids would sit in them forever, it gave me lots of hands free time when I needed or wanted it. The motion, the music. I loved it, and so do they!
9. pacifier thermometer…as a new mom, I was always worried my baby might be getting sick if he was just a bit too warm. Taking their temp can be a pain in the butt, they don’t exactly sit still, and honestly, I’m not a fan of axillary temps, I don’t feel like they’re very accurate. When I saw this pacifier thermometer, it was a no-brainer for me, easy to use of course, and my sweet little babe wouldn’t fight me on it. (They even make ones that dispense medicine! Those are excellent too..it helps prevent them from spitting half of it out!
10. the diaper genie…who wants a smelly nursery? not me! the diaper genie takes care of those smelly little diapers for you, so you don’t have to worry about tying them up in bags and tossing them in the trash. I’ve had one in both of my babies bedrooms. I recently went to target and stocked up on the refills for this little babe coming soon! oh! and now, if you enroll in their mommy time rewards program, you can earn points every time you purchase diaper genie products, and in turn earn rewards towards retailers such as sephora and zappos, or gift cards for massages, (yes please!), dining, (you know you’ll need a date with your hubby soon!), and more!
